Quick Cuisine: Chèvre Chaud (Goat Cheese Toasts)

Chèvre chaud or crottin chaud is a frequent favorite on Parisian bistrot menus. It is baked goat cheese on toast, and if you are lucky they used bread from Poilâne. One of the easiest ways to dress up a salad hands down. Quick to make but feels super fancy. Also great for an aperitivo!

Ingredients

  • Bruschetta toasts (two per person)

  • Two tablespoons of goat cheese per toast

  • honey

  • Black pepper

Directions

You can start with unbaked bread, but using the garlicky bruschetta toasts will elevate this recipe. Top the toasts with the goat cheese (either slice it or spread it) and bake on the broil setting for 2-4 minutes. If you are using goat cheese with the rind, you can keep it on - personal preference here. Watch carefully, this can burn quickly!

Once the cheese and toast starts to brown remove from the oven. Drizzle with honey and season with a touch of black pepper. This is a perfect pairing to a salad. Done and delicious.
