Fast Fusion:Oil, garlic, red pepper flakes…
The classic pasta dish of olio, aglio, pepperoncino - oil, garlic and red pepper flakes is a favorite of many because its quick and delish. My fusion take is usable for noodles, shrimp, chicken or traditional pasta. I take the three basics and add finely chopped ginger and basil to the mix. The key here is use fresh ingredients for full flavor. For oil, I use a mix of sunflower and sesame. It is a fast way to prepare something cheap, tasty and quick. Enjoy!
Ingredients (for one)
one clove garlic, chopped, stem removed
one teaspoon finely chopped ginger
one Tablespoon sesame oil
one Tablespoon sunflower/vegetable oil
5-7 fresh basil leaves roughly chopped
a big pinch of red pepper flakes
150 grams of pasta/noodles/raw shrimp/chicken
Directions
In a wok, heat the two oils on medium high heat. Add the garlic and ginger and let it fry and get crisp - about 2 minutes, you don’t want it to burn, so keep a close eye on it! Next, add the basil and red pepper flakes and stir for about one minute. Place the mixture to one side of the wok. Add the shrimp or chicken and cook through. Mix it all together. Serve immediately.
Nota bene: For pasta/noodles - cook the pasta or noodles first because this sauce comes together fast!
