Fall Flavors: Easy Apple Crumble
Sweater weather is here! I like to make this easy apple crumble because it fills the house with a beautiful scent of apple pie - without the effort! There are options below to make it lactose or gluten free. This recipe is for 2-4 servings and you can double it as you like. Andβ¦if you have any left over its delicious stirred into warm oatmeal. Yum!
Ingredients
two small apples chopped into big pieces (peeled or unpeeled, your preference)
1/2 cup/45 grams of oatmeal flour (or regular flour)
1/2 cup/50 grams of butter or coconut oil (for the lactose intolerant)
1/4 cup/25 grams brown sugar
1/4 cup/25 grams white sugar
1/2cup/40 grams of oats
1/2 cup/80 grams of pecan nuts (optional)
pinch of cinnamon or gingerbread spice (optional)
Directions
Chop the apples and set aside. Mix the remaining ingredients into a bowl and until mixed (it should be like sand, but not too wet - add a bit more butter or oil if you like). Using either a small baking dish or small individiual ramekins, put a bit of the crumble mix on the bottom and cover with apples in an even layer. Cover the apples with the crumble mixture, (if you have excess keep for your next crumble or mix into oatmeal the next day) Bake at 200C/400F for 20-25 minutes on a baking tray, as the crumble may boil over. Once it is bubbly and golden(it may be less golden if using coconut oil) let the crumble cool for 10 minutes. Serve warm or top with some ice cream, whipped cream or maple syrup. Enjoy!
