Summer Sprizting: Easy Cocktails

Nothing is more Italian than having a spritz in the afternoon in the summer. Here is a simple list of cocktail recipes for you to try!

Basicially, a spritz is four parts: a strong liqueur, prosecco, sparkling water and ice. Here in Italy, most people are either Team Aperol or Team Campari. Much like the football clubs, you are either Roma or Lazio. Pick a side, and may it be AC Roma ;)

Nota bene: these are mixed drinks, so you don’t need to use expensive champagne, a cheap prosecco or cava will do just fine. The order of the ingredients is the order I put them in the glass. Drink in moderation and enjoy!

Aperol Spritz: The classic, a bit sweet but has a soft bitter edge. Glass of ice + 1/3 Aperol + 1/3 prosecco + 1/3 sparkling water (optional garnish: slice of orange)

Campari Spritz: A bit more bitter on the taste, but also delicious. Glass of ice + 1/3 Campari + 1/3 prosecco + 1/3 sparkling water (optional garnish: slice of orange)

Limoncello Spritz: A fun way to change things up! Glass of ice + 1/3 Limoncello + 1/3 prosecco + 1/3 sparkling water or Glass of ice + 1/3 Limoncello + 1/3 dry white wine + 1/3 sparkling water

Hugo Spritz: Very popular in Rome and softer on the palate. Glass of ice + 1/3 St. Germain liquer or Elderflower syrup + 1/3 prosecco + 1/3 sparkling water

Bitter Bianco: Glass of ice + 1/3 Bitter Bianco Mix + 2/3 sparkling water or Tonic (I prefer tonic) (garnish with a lemon slice)

French Touch: When you want something different but really you want the same: Glass of ice + 1/3 Lillet Blanc + 2/3 Tonic Water
