Fusion Vibes: Tuna tartare (tartare di tonno)

I love a good poke bowl. But sometimes I really just want the fish. Here is an easy fix for that craving . I use frozen tuna - because its quite a bit safer and not to mention cheaper. You can also use frozen salmon for this recipe. Add rice and you have yourself a basic poke bowl. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 5-6 oz/ 150 - 170 grams of frozen and thawed tuna steak (or salmon if you prefer)

  • 1/4 teaspoon grated ginger

  • one teaspoon mirin

  • one teaspoon chopped green onion (optional)

  • two teaspoons sesame oil

  • two teaspoons dark soy sauce

  • one teaspoon balsamic vinegar

  • one pea sized dose of wasabi paste (optional - this is for a little heat: start small - wasabi can pack a punch)

  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

Cube the tuna and set aside. Add all the other ingredients and mix until even. Add the fish delicately and mix so the fish is just coated. Allow to marinate in the refridgerator for 30 minutes. Done. Serve on its own or with rice and avocado for a basic poke bowl (how easy was that?)
